How To Check Shock Absorbers In Your Car?

If you feel that the quality of your vehicle riding has reduced as compared to what it was some months ago, it is better to understand how to check whether the shock absorbers in your vehicle are working properly. When you understand how to do this, you can save a lot of time and money from taking your vehicle to the garage for getting it verified. Here are the tips to check the same in your car:
Observe from the front: Park your car on a flat surface in such a way that it looks perfectly leveled. This means that both the sides should be in the same height off the surface. If you know the specification of the suspension, you can just measure the height. If the height is below or at the minimum specifications specified by your manufacturer, then it is an indication that you will have to take your vehicle to a mechanic for further evaluation and repairs. When it is at the minimal or below minimum level, it is an indication that there are some changes in your vehicle.
Push down on the front: Even though, this is not a scientific test, it is something that can be helpful when done in conjunction with the other checks. ...
... To perform this check, you will have to stand in front of your car, and should carefully place your foot on the bumper or you can also place your knee on the surface that won’t bend or dent. Now, push your weight onto the point in such a way that the vehicle is pushed down. Then, quickly remove your weight off the vehicle. When this is done, your car should spring up and return to its original position once, rather than being stiff or continuing its bouncing. If it bounces for more than two times, it is an indication that there are some problems in the shock absorbers and the vehicle should not be stiff either.
Visual inspection: Carefully look for signs of liquid running down from the shock absorber. This can be the sign of weakness and once the seals start to leak, it is time to look for a new absorber. But, ensure whether the liquid leakage is actually from your vehicle or it can also be something splashed on the road.
