2015 Dodge Challenger Vs. 2015 Ford Mustang: What To Expect
The 2015 Dodge Challenger is prepared to take over the muscle car segment. The Dodge Challenger offers everything that you could want in a sports car including power, great handling, comfort, and efficiency.
For years, the Dodge vs Ford battle has kept car enthusiasts intrigued. With Ford releasing the newly redesigned Mustang, the Challenger faces some stiff competition. Although both of these performance machines offer a very exciting driving experience, only one can be crowned as the best muscle car on the streets. Take a look at how the 2015 Dodge Challenger and the 2015 Ford Mustang stack up against each other.
With just over 300 horsepower on hand, the Challenger’s Pentastar V-6 engine’s output is virtually identical to the output of the V-6 Mustang. Although the V-6 Mustang is available with a manual transmission, an overwhelming majority of buyers will opt for the automatic version. The Challenger’s innovative eight-speed automatic gearbox delivers the perfect balance of performance and fuel efficiency. While the Mustang’s automatic transmission gets the job done, it still suffers from only having six gears.
The Mustang’s 5.0-liter, V-8 engine has always maintained a loyal fan base. Although the muscular engine pushes out over 440 horsepower, it still trails the 485-howerpower output of the Challenger’s 6.4-liter, V-8 motor. Nothing currently in the 2015 Mustang lineup can compete with the raw performance offered by the new Challenger SRT Hellcat. Equipped with a supercharged engine, the Hellcat version of the SRT Challenger roars with over 700 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque under the hood.
The Dodge Challenger is a big coupe that offers plenty of interior room. Even rear-seat passengers will find the available legroom to be very satisfying. While some automotive reviewers have touted the Mustang’s front seats to be very accommodating, passengers in the back seat will likely feel cramped. The extra room in the Challenger will certainly come in handy for drivers who have a family.
A few test drivers have noted that the 2015 Mustang has strayed away from its muscle car heritage. While some Mustang fans will adore the modern design, others will find the front end to be a tad bit too futuristic. On the other hand, the 2015 Challenger features a retro design that first captivated the automotive world during the early 1970s. Not only does the new Shaker hood give the Challenger an even more aggressive road presence, but it also effectively boosts the output of the engine.
Both the 2015 Mustang and the 2015 Challenger are offered with innovative remote start systems. Like the new Challenger, the Mustang will also offer a blind-spot monitoring system. However, the Challenger is currently the only car in its class to offer a forward collision warning system. The Challenger’s customizable gauge cluster gives the driver plenty of configurations. Although the Mustang’s gauge cluster can also perform a few tricks, the system is far less advanced.
