Zicam, one of the most popular cold remedies, has been advised against by the FDA. It was announced today by the Food and Drug Administration once it has come to the awareness of the FDA that the over-the-counter drug is directly connected to the damage of sense of smell.

The deficiency could be long lasting or yet Everlasting.

The products that have the FDA issuing the warning are:
Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel
Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs
And the discontinued Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Children Size

The FDA says that it has acknowledged about 130 reports from consumers saying they have experienced the loss of the sense of smell associated with using Zicam, a lot reporting the loss of smell subsequent to just the primary dosage.

Missing your sense of smell is a pretty terrible thing to have happen to you. If you drop your sense of smell, how can you sense things like natural gas if your house were to have a gas seep out?

Now, if you consumed these products and dont want to chance having this very adverse side consequence, there are other products on the market that individuals ...
... are saying have a rather similar effect . The Neti-Pot is one of those items. It is a invention that involves the customer filling it with water and principally rinsing out their nasal cavity by pouring water into one nostril and having it drain out the other. It might sound awful and a little like torture, but its in reality really effective, particularly with allergy problems.

Zinc lozenges are as well accepted. While they may or may not go into effect as promptly at some say Zicam works, they do eventually work the same way that Zicam does. I suppose this is what Airborne essentially is: a big amount of Zinc.

Subsequently theres just plain ol Vitamin C. Numerous people have been using vitamin C for years to help boost the immune system and hold off colds. I, for one, take extra vitamin C during cold season to help fight off becoming sick, and whether it is all in my head or not, I have had shorter colds if I even grow sick at all.

Im confident there is some way to merge all these remedies to help keep the cold at bay. Just keep in mind to clean your hands frequently and dont touch your face and then you in fact dont even need these over the counter remedies.
