Selecting a family trip can be a daunting challenge, as well as an exercise in patience. But if you prepare beforehand, the holiday can be one of the most memorable experiences of your family's life.

These are some quick and easy tips for making your family trip an entertaining and safe one.

First, prepare a checklist of items you will need. This will include first aid kit, things to eat, nibbles, drinks, and lots of toys, coloring books, paper and crayons, a cartable DVD unit so your youngsters can see their favorite flicks ; and of course a cooler to keep food and drinks cool. A brilliant idea is to ask the children what games and toys they would like to take, within boundaries naturally.

Make sure that the munchies are not too fattening. Too many sugar snacks can have the kids rebounding around the car. Remember, this is a chilled family holiday and you wish to avoid the children becoming bored or repeatedly asking when you are going to get there.

Check on the internet to get some games for the journey that you and the children can play on the way. There are an assortment ...
... of puzzles and riddles too.

Additionally, if you have babies you will need to take the nappy sack and wipes for the occasional messes, bedding if necessary and a favourite item or stuffed animal for the young ones is a smart idea as well .

Second, choose the place you want to visit and then contact AAA to book. Ask for the scenic route, one that is far more relaxing and pleasing to the eye, particularly the driver!

3rd, while looking into the planned route you may wish to check online to locate petrol stands along the way that offer the cheapest gas. Also if there are any points of interest along the route mark them on your map and plan to visit en route.

Fourth, while on the way ensure that you have pit stops constantly. This will permit the children to run around and blow off some steam, while permitting the grownups to stretch and reenergize. Take along a football or football ball so the entire family can enjoy some sports and get some exercise.

Finally, it is critical that safety precautions are taken. This includes having the automobile checked at your local mechanic or gas stand. Make sure that the oil/filter are changed ; the tires are properly inflated ( don't forget the spare tire, too ) ; the windshield wipers are changed ( if required ) ; and the vehicle is in great condition before you depart.

Additionally, you might want to place the following items in your trunk : a lawn chair, additional quilt, emergency road kit, umbrellas, bottled, flashlight and batteries, a battery-powered radio, and window wiper cleaner. Inside the glove box keep a first aid kit and cellphone charger. Put all medicines in a Ziploc bag in the glove compartment as well .

One more great idea is to take an inventory of telephone numbers including the accomodations where you are rooming in addition to those of buddies and relatives you could need to get in touch with.

If you find enjoyment in scrapbooking, this road trip may be an ideal chance to add new creations to the book. When you stop at some scenic sites, ask the children to look for something they would like to include in the scrapbook. Or if the kids say something along the path that they find fascinating, snap a picture of it to include in the scrapbook also.

Engage the youngsters in the decision-making, age appropriate, and permit them to choose what they would like to take from home. Get them to pack their garments ( check the suitcases thereafter ) so they feel part of the final experience. Planning beforehand for a family road trip will save you time, stress, and money. And the children will like this journey, too!
