All businesses need to stay in touch and up to date with the latest regulations in their industry. This also means knowing about upcoming changes in the regulation, and being ready for the impact these changes will have on your business. There is a lot to be said for being fully informed and prepared for legislative changes because if you are not, it could cost you unnecessary time and money to rectify the situation once it hits. As the saying goes: "Fail to prepare and prepare to fail."

The changes in the F-Gas Legislation come into effect in January of 2015, and this is something that many firms and industries have to be aware of. The changes will impact on firms with respect to refrigerant upgrades, from the previous R22 system and it is likely to lead to a surge in demand for solutions that will help with cleaning, recycling, flushing and removing system refrigerant. This is an integral part of everyday business life for some firms and a failure to meet the requirements of this regulation could see some firms in financial and operational difficulty.

Industry experts predict that many firms will be affected ...
... by this 2015 legislation change and most predict that the biggest issue to arise from it will come from the checking of leaks and in the new requirements for detecting refrigerant leaks. This used to be based on the level of Kilograms of refrigerant that was maintained in a system. The test frequency ranged from no testing required based on three Kilograms or less (or six Kilograms for hermetically sealed systems), up to quarterly checks for three hundred Kilograms or more. This though is no longer the case. The new measure that is to be most regularly required now focuses on the level of carbon dioxide equivalent compared to the HFC's entrained charge. The result of this means that the vast majority of refrigeration units, systems and factories that utilise HFC refrigerants, and especially those with a high level of Global Warning Potential, will be required to be checked for leaks far more often. There is also the likelihood that there will be a need to utilise more effective leak detection equipment, which was not an issue or requirement under the former regulation.

Many businesses may not think this is an issue for their firm, but there is a high level of units and systems that will fall under this new legislation and as such will require upgrading to be ensure they resin legal. If a business runs air conditioning systems or chillers, this new legislation will apply, so consider the amount of restaurants, bars and supermarkets that will need to upgrade their working practices to ensure they remain working at the necessary industry standard. The new legislation also applies to units such as:

Stationary air-conditioning equipment
Stationary fire protection equipment
Stationary heat pumps
Stationary refrigeration equipment
There will also be further amendments made to the regulations in January 2017 when electrical switchgear and organic Rankine cycles will also fall under the regulations.

There is no doubt that businesses will benefit from a helping hand to comply with these changes and when it comes to Refrigerant Recovery Machines, there is a lot to be said for opting for the Fri3Oil system. This system is known to work with all forms of refrigerant and it can be utilised on any style, type or size of air conditioning system or refrigeration plant. This makes it the ideal system for oil or refrigeration conversions and it will also help firms to effectively remove any contaminants that occur during burnout.

No matter how large or small the company, it makes sense to ensure that the members of the workforce are confident and skilled in what needs to be undertaken to meet the requirements of the new legislation. This is where getting staff trained up through refrigeration courses which are compliant with the new regulation changes will be of great benefit to any business that is likely to be affected by the upcoming changes.

There has been enough forewarning about the changes in legislation to ensure that companies cannot blame ignorance or a lack of available knowledge for not being ready. If any company requires assistance or help in ensuring that they meet these new regulations in plenty of time, they will find that there is guidance, and a range of systems available to them to prepare themselves for the changes by the start of 2015.
