No matter the specific industry you are in, you have to deal with the business aspects of your job. Bookkeeping is one of the most important aspects of any business, regardless of the services or products it provides. However, it is very possible for one to be good at a particular craft, yet no so good at accounting and business-related math and records. Further, all the time spent handling the books on your own is time you could be spending actually working! Outsourced Bookkeeping is the way to go, even if your business is small.

Many say starting your own business is "The American Dream." The recent recession taught us all just how tenuous working for someone else can be, and led many to look into creating their own businesses, even if they had never considered it before. Unfortunately, few have the start-up capital needed to get a business off the ground. Even worse, those who do often try to do everything on their own instead of relinquishing some control to others.

This is especially a problem for charitable organizations. More often than not, limited manpower results in a core team doing most of the ...
... work. A Non profit cpa could do worlds of good here; with someone handling the numbers and finances, it frees-up volunteers to work in other capacities. In these cases, not outsourcing your accounting needs is simply ridiculous!

Many are understandably reticent to hire staff due to the legalities involved (especially insurance), but outsourced bookkeeping is an entirely different model. True, the firm to whom you outsource can be considered your bookkeeping department, but the payment arrangements, managerial control, and other important aspects of a business model are handled by the company for which they work, not you. You pay a set amount at set intervals (weekly, monthly, et.al.) and you are done! They even handle filing your taxes, so you don't have to keep up with it all.

Sit down and crunch some numbers. If you find that you could increase and/or improve production with someone else handling the business side of your endeavor, then seriously consider outsourcing your bookkeeping!
