Driving Offences Raising Your Premium

Road rules are put in place for us to adhere to whilst we drive. They are measures which are taken to lower the risk of motor vehicle collisions occurring. Recorded statistics show that the majority of vehicle accidents occur because people are not following the rules of the road! Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol can also affect your ability to adhere strictly to the road rules and signs.
One of the leading causes of vehicle accidents are people skipping red traffic lights, stop signs and also not indicating when a turn is intended. If you are caught by the traffic police disobeying any of these or any of the other road rules, you could find yourself in serious trouble. Fines can be hefty, and if you are caught driving under the influence you could even be locked up! One of the worst traffic offences, and leading causes of fatalities on the road, is speeding. There are normally speed traps and traffic police on the roads to monitor this. If you are given a speeding ticket, you also run the risk of having it affect your insurance premium!
If you are given enough tickets, it will be registered under ...
... your name. The car insurance companies can easily find out about these sort of marks on your license. You will be seen as a higher risk person to insure, as you have been reckless in the past. The insurance companies believe that if you are prone to disobeying the road rules, you will also be more likely to be involved in a collision.
The best thing you can do to prevent this happening, is to take the necessary steps to avoid marks on your name. Drive as cautiously as possible, follow the road rules at all times, even if there are no other cars around, because you never know when a traffic cop is hiding around the corner! Take an advanced driving course. In addition to the abilities it will give you to drive better, you should also know that some vehicle insurance companies offer discounts to people who have taken driving courses, as they believe these people to be more experienced and to have better equipped driving skills. Always ensure that you do not drive whilst intoxicated, as although you may feel brave enough to drive safely, you will not be aware of the effects on your concentration and driving ability.
If you are caught driving badly, and given a ticket, there are ways and means of solving the problem before it reaches the ears of your insurance company. Sometimes, you can go on a traffic course about the rules of the road, and your ticket can be squashed. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in most countries, and you will just have to be VERY careful that you learn from your mistake and do not do it again. If you have many driving offences to your name, the best thing you can do is to compile as many insurance quotes as possible, to try and find the best deal under your circumstances.
