Millions of people have chosen dental implants for a more attractive and healthier mouth. If you are considering dental implants, you should feel comfortable knowing that today’s technology is much more advanced than the technology used for dental implants only ten years ago. Many advantages come with these advancements in technology, such as durability, ease of chewing, a more impressive smile, and a success rate well over 90%. That said, it is imperative that you take care of your dental implants in order to see the best results. Dental implants can be brushed with ease; therefore, as long as you are motivated, maintenance should not be an issue.

The key to successful dental implant care is treating your implants as if they are your own teeth. If you give them the same amount of attention, you will be more than happy with your dental implants. This means you need to brush thoroughly after every meal. However, ‘thoroughly’ does not mean brushing hard. Putting a lot of pressure on your new teeth will not be an issue, but it can affect your gums. The number one reason people need grafting surgery done is due to using ...
... too much pressure when they brush. This is important because maintaining healthy gums is a major factor when it comes to maintaining a healthy mouth. One you have your dental implants, you are going to want to avoid dealing with any new and unexpected problems. To keep everything in excellent working order, brush your gums gently. Also be sure to brush and floss your abutments. Inquire about a special brush for cleaning your abutments if you do not own one already. This specially designed brush will be small and have a bent handle, which will make for easy use.

In order to ensure you are practicing proper dental implant care, it is strongly advised that you have a minimum of two routine check-ups per year. There are several reasons for these check-ups. You will find out if the fitting needs to be adjusted, if your dental implants require any revisions, and if the anchors are still satisfactory. In addition to that, in most cases, your abutments will be professionally cleaned.

Follow the information above for dental implant care and you will enjoy a healthier and happier mouth.
