The Scope Of Indian Ferro Alloys Market

Ferro Manganese is a Ferro alloy, which has high contents of manganese. It is made by heating mixtures of oxides like manganese dioxide, ferric oxide along with carbon in a blast furnace or in submerged arc furnace. Hence, ferromanganese is produced while the oxides undergo carbothermal reductions inside. Ferromanganese is useful in the manufacture of steel as it helps in introducing controlled proportions of manganese during the production of steel. In addition, it is used as a deoxidizer for steel.
Types of Ferro alloys exported
Ferro manufactures in India usually manufactures bulk Ferro Alloys. Some of such alloys are Silico Manganese (SiMn) which is required in the production of steel and occupies a major part of the exports. While the manufacturers are open to manufacturing different grades of Silico Manganese depending upon the demands of the customers, two grades of SiMn are famous for exports. The grades are measured by the variations in the concentration of the main element i.e. Manganese.

Ferro Silicon (FeSi) is one of the Ferro alloys, which incurs a huge cost of production because it consumes a lot of power. Almost 3 times power/electricity as compared to SiMn & FeMn is required in the production of FeSi (65% of total cost of production). A common 9MVA furnace producing 16500MT of SiMi & FeMn per year will produce a maximum of 7200MT of Ferro Silicon. This is the reason why some of the Indian manufactures refrain from producing in large quantities, it comprises of 16% of the exports. The grades of FeSi, which is mainly exported, are of two types, i.e. variation in the concentration of Si.
Export trend in Kolkata
Ferro Alloys units are located mainly in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. The main Indian ports used for the export of Ferro Alloys are those of Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam and Haldia. India has been an important producer Ferro alloys. In spite facing a fluctuating trend during the decade Ferro silicon hosted and increased trend of 17.39% in 2011-2012, Ferro manganese increased by 213% and Ferro chrome showed an increase of 140 in 2011-2012%.
Kolkata holds some of the best exporters of Ferro Alloys. The manufacturers have their markets all around the world. The Ferro Manganese Manufacturer India uses superior quality raw materials and the production process is taken utmost care off. Uninterrupted access to roads and railways ensures smooth supply of inputs. Also, there is uninterrupted supply of electricity, which assures timely production and cost effective quality products. The Ferro Alloys Exporter Kolkata is one of the major exporters of Ferro Alloys in India. Some of the better manufacturers of the alloys have met the standards set by ISO and they keep on improving their quality benchmarks. Some of the manufactures have the capacity to produce as much as 80000 tones of Ferro alloys annually. Hence, foreign markets find the Indian Ferro alloy market to productive and worth investing on which sets in greater scopes for the Indian Ferro alloys export to expand.
