Pearls have a wonderful radiance and a peace about them that make them great candidates for beautiful necklaces. When it comes to choosing the necklace for you there are several things to consider.

Pearls used for necklaces come in a few different types, a wide variety of sizes, and even a huge assortment of colors. First of all the least expensive pearl is the cultured freshwater pearl. These are grown rather then simply harvested and makes them more prevalent. Next you have a freshwater pearl that is harvested. More expensive options are saltwater pearls such as the South Sea pearl, the Tahitian pearl, and the Akoya pearl. These are more uniform in shape, size, and color. Pearls come in all sizes and colors ranging from pastels to silver to black.

In addition to pearl necklaces coming in a wide range of types, sizes, and colors the person deciding to buy pearls will need to decide how long they want the strand to be. The shortest option is the collar. This necklace hugs the neck closely and is usually ...
... about 12 to 13 inches long. Next is the choker which is 14 or 15 inches long. A princess necklace will run from 16 to 18 inches. The matinee necklace is longer at about 20 to 24 inches. The opera necklaces is 32 to 36 inches and the rope necklace is the longest being at least 36 inches.

In addition to pearl type and the length of the necklace you need to consider what it is made out of. Traditionally pearl necklaces were made of creamy white pearls either in a strand or with a solitary pearl on a chain. More modern necklaces include pearls of all colors and even necklaces that have more then one color on a single strand. You can also find necklaces with pearls mixed with gemstones and or crystals. This gives the pearls a unique look while still having the class of the original.

Pearl necklaces have a lot to offer women whether they are young or old. There is a necklace that is perfect for you!
