Amethyst Gemstone Keeps You Sober!

Amethyst is an enchanting burgundy gemstone that has been liked by kings and queens thr

oughout history, all of the way back to three thousand B.C. in Egypt.

However, notwithstanding its royal history, it's

incredibly affordable.

Amethyst is believed to excite right-brain activity and psych

ic inspiration. It also holds healing properties,

taking out impurities from the bloodstream, reinforcing immunity and relieving headaches. The ancient Greeks

assumed that amethyst forestalled intoxication. The name

amethyst is taken from the Greek word amethystos,
meaning "not drunken", or "sober". Drinking wine from an amethyst

glass was thought to allow you to drink alcohol without

fear of getting too drunk. I wish I had had

an amethyst cup on my recent birthday!

In Greek legend, the diety of wine, Bacchus, was angry at

mortal humans and made a decision to have his tigers

attack the subsequent mortal person to pass by. A

young girl named Amethyst crossed his trail, ...
... but before Bacchus's Tigers could attack,

Goddess Diana intervened, turning Amethyst into a pile of burgundy

quartz to keep her safe. Afterwards Bacchus

felt embarrassed of his aggression, and weeped tears of wine over

Amethyst, turning her quartz body into the burgundy stone it is

today.

Even though I don't believe that story literally, I do believe that amethyst purifies the blood

vessels, an element in forestalling drunkenness. It also increases your

intuition, perhaps bringing your mind of its pissed

stupor and allowing you to understand what's happening around you.

I know you guys all take care of your temples, but in case that you do

drink alcohol, think about wearing a piece of amethyst to preserve your mental

edge. But don't rely on it to drive!
