Goal Setting When It Isn't New Years
Another year is flying by and here you on the downhill slide to the start of a new one. But instead of letting this time waste away and mean nothing, achieve something by setting yourself some new goals.
The truth is, it doesn't need to be New Year to go about setting goals. Many people use the start of a new year to do this job as it is seen as a fresh start, or time to turn over a new leaf. But with only 100 days to the end of the year, NOW is also the perfect time to set yourself some goals for the rest of the year.
Now is the time to assess your life and set goals for the rest of the year. They maybe the exact same goals as the start of the year. Did you make some of these goals?
1. Lose weight, get into shape, and exercise more
2. Spend more time with the family
3. Worry less and relax more
4. Budget
5. Get a different
If any of these goals sound familiar this is because these are some of the most common goals set each year.
A goal requires a firm commitment and great determination to achieve, but most people are lucky if their goal is kept until the end of ...
... January. It's no wonder many people find themselves making the exact same goalsthe following year. But you can achieve your goal by following a few simple steps, and you can do this at any time of the year.
Step 1: Work on one thing at a time. Resolutions require change and sometimes it's simpler to give up and sink back into your old habits than stick to change. So only do one thing at a time or you may be tempted to give up!
Step 2: Plan. Think about your goal and write it down! Put it where you will read it everyday. Set a start date. Develop a strategy. Write a list of actions to help you to achieve your goal. Break it down into manageable tasks and approach it one step at a time.
Step 3: Prepare for those obstacles that you know will come up. So think about what obstacles will come up and a way to tackle each one. If you slip up, don't let this make you totally give up. See it as one step back among all the steps you have taken forward. And remember to treat yourself for every step forward you do take as this will keep you motivated to continue.
Step 4: Get Support. This is critical. It's much simpler to stay motivated if you feel supported and accountable to someone. You could buddy up with a colleague or relative as long as you are sure they will support you.
So, forget about New Year Resolutions once and for all. You can set goals any day of the year, and what better time than now to start!
