Root canal therapy is also known as endodontic therapy. When the root of the teeth gets damages due to any infection or injury root canal treatment is being done. Root canal treatment involves the treatment of the soft tissue that is present in the centre of every tooth. This soft tissue is normally known as the pulp. It is the place for the nerve tissues, connective tissues and the blood vessels. Nourishment of the tooth is normally provided by the pulp in the form of gum.

Root canal therapy normally involves removal of the pulp. This treatment is normally needed when the pulp gets infected. This infection causes decay in the teeth, which further destroys the enamel and the dentin. Root canal treatment is also needed when due to any injury there is a fracture in the tooth. The main aim of the root canal therapy is to save the tooth from any damage or infection by removing the pulp that causes the infection.

Root canal treatment is needed when we feel sensitivity to cold or any hot for more than a few seconds. When we get hurt while chewing or biting any food then also root canal treatment is needed. When there ...
... is a swelling near the tooth or when the tooth gets broken then also we need a root canal treatment.

The first step of the root canal therapy is cleaning the canal. All the canals should be cleaned. After cleaning a temporary filling is being done on the deceased tooth. Then the top portion of the tooth should be covered by some permanent filling. This permanent filling is normally known as crown. This crown helps to bring back the tooth’s strength and it also protects the tooth from any cracks. After the completion of the entire procedure the tooth gets recovered. By taking proper care of the tooth this treated tooth will never create any problem till the end.

Gum disease is also known as periodontal disease. Gum disease are mainly formed when bacteria along with some other particles forms a colourless sticky patch on our teeth this colourless patch is known as plaque. When the plaque stays longer it becomes harder and also harmful. This leads to inflammation of the gums and this disease is known as gingivitis. This disease normally does not affect the gums and bones around the teeth. The advance form of gingivitis is known as periodontal. When gingivitis is not treated it leads to periodontis. In this disease the bones and the connective tissues that keeps the tooth in place starts to break down. If proper treatment is not done then this will lead to breakage of the tooth.

The gum disease is normally treated by doing proper cleaning that involves scaling and root planning. Taking proper medications also helps to get rid of this disease. There are some surgical methods known as flap surgery and bones and tissues grafting. The gums can be kept healthy by properly brushing our teeth twice a day, by trying to avoid smoking and also by visiting the dentist regularly.
