There are many that can happen once a digitizer fails to function properly. One of those includes dead spots.

To those who do not know, dead spots are areas on the screen that do not respond properly on its own, although, these are just spots and not the entirety of the screen. In spite of that little ray of sunshine, it is still not good. Once a dead spot occurred, the likelihood of it spreading is very high.

In cases such as these, assessment is in order. In order to detect which parts of the screen have dead spots, you have to download a drawing application and scribble all over the screen. Areas which do not respond to your scribbling as evidenced by a blank spot in spite passing over it, are basically a dead spot.

Another issue common in a malfunctioning iPad 4 digitizer, or in any digitizer at that, is the phantom touch syndrome. This technical issue is evident once you have application opening without you touching.

The phantom touch syndrome can be assessed by first turning off the auto lock feature of the tablet, and let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes or look at it within two to three minutes. After a while, you will eventually start seeing random application open and close at its own whim. It is just like having a person that you do not see operating your tablet. Unless you believe in ghosts, this should be concluded as a problem with the device’s digitizer.

Assessment has always been a key in finding solutions to particular problems that arise, and that not limited to hospitals. Electronics have its own problems that needs solving, though easier and less life threatening.
