Bow ties have the most unique and classic look of all the neck ties! Bow Tie was the first knot that was styled up to be used with suits. Though it takes a tough skill to put on a bow tie at the beginning, you can learn to tie it in perfection through regular wears and it gets as simple as lacing up your shoes. For all its ups and downs, since its invention in 1700’s, the bow tie still remains stylish, elegant and trendy. Today, bow ties of blazing patterns, designs and colors are available. Men have started using bow tie as a fashionable substitution to lengthy neck ties. Also, women have initiated following the bow tie culture, even with their casual wears.

Bow ties generally come in two styles – Ready tied and loose ties. Ready tied or Pre-tied bow ties are those that are already sewn, and come with a band and a clip to tie around your neck, while the loose ties are those that are to be self tied.

Want to learn how to wear your bow tie in six easy steps? Here you go!

• Put on the tie around your neck such that one end is longer than the other by 1”.

• Cross the prolonged end over the ...
... short one and pass it back through the loop resulting in a loose knot.

• Fold the lower hanging end up and to the left, which indirectly means that the unfolded end is supposed to swing down over the front of the bow.

• Tug the end of the bow a bit forward and gently grasp them together. This will result in an opening behind them. You can now turn to your right and notice the opening you have created.

• Using your forefinger, push the central part of the tie through the opening from left to right, and make sure not to let the end of the tie pass all the way through the opening. You can use your right hand to help pull the back loop through.

• To make your bow tie look symmetric and perfect, pull and adjust the loop ends to tighten the bow.

The final step is where your personal preference comes in, where you can either make a small or large knot, by adjusting the loop ends. To take off your bow tie, gently tug the loose ends.
