Workplace Communication: The Holistic, Human Way

In the country of ideals, communication in the workplace is often the foundation of harmony and productivity in any one community. Work equals income and income fuels the economic engine – effective communication between peers and superiors in an office will ripple out into the interconnected relational groups in which such people move. The ideal communication has a positive tone, is clear and easily understood, and one which all its receivers willingly agree with – ideal communication is part of a spiritual force which many look for in a workplace.
Good rapport between office mates is now managed by a wholly autonomous department within a business, the human resources department. An excellent HR department goes out of its way to study how to motivate employees and develop management techniques for enhancing a company’s over-all performance via its most important resource. The HR department’s tool is effective communication. In related academic fields, sociology and psychology students look into “man, the social animal”, Charles Darwin’s theses on natural selection, and the sources of human motivation. They ...
... do so to become effective business communicators and run HR departments.
In a personal vein, your best buddies are often the ones you work with. You often spend more time with them than with family. You share your dreams, anxieties and problems with them. This part is something that belongs to that often overlooked factor in good communication in the workplace: time. The passage of time and shared experience are the practical basis with which workmates communicate effectively. An HR department can only profile an employee’s personality, teach good communication practices and sometimes weed out those employees who affect the company negatively. Time, though, is a great equalizer: given time employees get to know each other better; and the natural need for humans to communicate often takes care of the smaller details of bonding and harmony.
Humans in a group often come to a consensus, and this is developed only by constant communication. Every day each individual develops his or her communication skills according to his or her capabilities. A modern company always has an eye out for like-minded people to staff its offices to achieve a balanced work environment. Schools train people in one area of study so that they can relate to other areas of study and share a common language and partake in the world of ideas. More often than not, each individual in a work group have this foundation in which to build trust and understanding. Though it has become an effective science, business communication relies on people in order for it to work. A good HR department has effective start-up and orientation programs for employee communications, it holds company functions in which employees from different departments can mingle – but it lets work relationships develop naturally, lets employees make the choice of what to say according to how they interpret the rules. It regulates communications in the workplace but makes God, as they say, take care of the rest.
Time rounds out the rough edges of a workplace so that a routine composed of each individual input becomes normative at work. Workplace communication involves all that a human could be at work. Corporate wisdom takes this into account, and the best teams are often those who have long been together while letting each individual have room to grow, to speak out as a member of the team, and to be heard and respected by the group. The most effective managers have a talent for putting together complementary personalities and nurturing these groups to become super-productive in their areas. He or she knows that it only needs good, practical and simple ideas that are communicated well to motivate human beings in achieving business success.
