One lotto strategy that has been around for sometime is what I have dubbed the Hot Number Strategy. The proposition was that the best lotto numbers were the HOT numbers. This lottery strategy is still being used by lotto players the world over and that is really sad. But, it is understandable why it became such a rage. All of the marketing hype used to sell this fantasy sounds good, it appears to make sense, it is easy to understand, it is easy to implement but it is pure baloney wrapped in a robe of golden hope. And, lottery players took the bait.

A few years ago, I was the first to uncover the flaws in this lottery strategy. I have been crusading ever since to shed some light on the subject. But, one thing about the strategy did capture my attention. There was one thread of righteous truth hidden in the strategy. After pulling, pushing and picking at this thread for some time, I was able to unravel my first astonishing breakthrough in lotto number analysis. I called this thread Cycles. And, I am proud to say, that to this day, nothing has been discovered which outperforms Cycles.

... br />Before I discuss Cycles, let's explain the basis of the Hot Number Strategy. It turns out to be an excellent lead in to the topic of Cycles. The strategy simply states that the lotto numbers that have hit in the last 10 drawings must be somehow HOT numbers. The idea is that if a lottery number is HOT, you should play it. Apparently, their recent activity makes them HOT. So they say. Many people fell for this pitch. But, by asking a few simple questions, the strategy begins to fall apart.

The basic flaw behind the Hot Number Strategy lies in the assumption. So, what is this assumption? The assumption is that the list of lotto numbers from the last 10 drawings is the best play list. But, who says? Are we supposed to blindly accept that statement as truth? Where is the proof?

A Healthy Lottery Strategy

I can remember asking myself these very questions. And, these questions led to the bottom line question which was, 'If the winning numbers from the last 10 drawings aren't the best play list, then where do I find the best play list?' As I worked the problem, I soonrealized that I wasn't going to be satisfied with a single lottery solution. The solution I was looking for had to work for all lotteries.

Also, the solution had to apply to any size lottery. It also had to apply to 5 or 6 number lotteries. It had to apply to any period of the lotteries history and it had to apply to lotteries that started 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 2 years ago, etc. In other words, the solution had to be universal. After many months of research and software development, I was able to solve the problem using a computer. The solution was given the name Cycles.

What Are Lottery Cycles?

This may surprise you but, the Hot Number Strategy is also a Cycle. It is called Cycle 1-10. The 1 refers to the last drawing and the 10 refers to ten drawings ago. So, when preparing to play drawing 100 on Saturday, Cycle 1-10 would refer to drawings 90 thru 99; the last 10 drawings. The winning numbers from these drawings would make up your play list.

Now, HOT number aficionados always assume that Cycle 1-10 is the best. At this moment in a lotteries history, maybe it is; maybe not. So, instead of guessing, why not check the performance of all Cycles? For example, maybe Cycle 9-18 is a better list; or Cycle 11-20 or Cycle 27-36. Making a good choice makes all the difference. It would be a waste to spend your money on Cycle 1-10 when Cycle 7-16 was a better choice.

All lottery players need to learn this fundamental truth. Every lottery is different; unique. A good lottery strategy for one lottery is a catastrophe for another. The best Cycle choice in one lottery is not necessarily the best in another. If you stop and think about it, the idea that the Hot Number Strategy would work equally well for all lotteries is ridiculous. But, if you believe otherwise, then I know someone who is selling some ocean-front property in Arizona. Forgive me George.

No, you're not going to win the lottery jackpot just because you use Cycles. That's just silly. The only thing you or anyone else can do is improve your odds of winning. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise would also try to sell you the Golden Gate Bridge. Again, sorry George.

How to Play the Lottery

My philosophy on playing the lottery is this. If you're going to play the lottery, then at least do it right. Be logical. Be consistent. Play smart. Use the best lottery software. Budget your money wisely. And, above all, have fun.

Everyone is destined to win the lottery, if they live long enough. Your lucky day may be 6,767 years and 47 days from now. That could be a problem. So, do everything you can to improve your odds of winning the lottery jackpot. The first of which is to create a list of the best lottery numbers to play. Effectively, this reels in that lucky day to a day you can enjoy. But, remember, the lottery is only a game and games are supposed to be fun.
