Precision turned parts are those that are manufactured with the help of some form of turning or spinning device called as the lathe. The manufacturing units use different kinds of lathes and some of them are wood turning, CNC and Centre lathe. They are used for machining articles of varied sizes with the help of different materials. These materials differ right from soft plastic to extremely tough and hard metals. Some of them include plastics, stainless steel, steel, aluminum, bronze, brass and copper.

All the above-mentioned materials can be precision turned on a lathe. But, some of them need a specific type of lathe and appropriate tools for getting the desired results. For instance, when you take the case of large turned parts, a large and more powerful lathe will be needed. On the other hand, smaller and intricate parts can be manufactured with the help of smaller machines. This is where the help of companies dealing with precision turned parts can help. Some lathes can be operated manually, while some of them should be CNC controlled. There are also lathes that are both CNC controlled and manually operated too.

Lathes ...
... are nothing, but the machines used for rotating a particular piece of metal in such a way that the cutting tool can shape it into a component. This can either be for carrying out a screw cutting operation or a circular cross section too. Among many other machine tools, lathes are highly important and they vary widely in design. But, most commonly, they have a rotational motion that helps the tool to cut the materials away. Appropriate combinations of linear movements are given to the tool.

The centre lathe, which is otherwise called as an engine lathe, is widely used and the piece that should be turned is held or fixed between the two centres or it is held tightly in a chuck. The rotation speed of the spindle judges the cutting speed of the tool. This is highly important as different types of materials need different speeds of cutting. For instance, aluminum based turned parts can be manufactured at a faster pace as it is a relatively soft material as compared to many other hard materials. Harder materials require cutting speed that is much slower.

Many manufacturing units need parts that are precision turned. But, rather than taking care of this tough task on their own, they can outsource the work of precision turning to professional companies, who is specialized in providing this service.

Precision turned parts are the items which have been manufactured by using some form of turning device. Here at aptleicester.co.uk we manufacture precision turned parts with high quality which range from 1mm to 42mm.If you would like to know more details about Precision Components visit our website.
