Many people have always thought of a slingshot as one of many toys kids could have. Some of us may look back fondly on old memories and chuckle at the times they were used to irritate some grumpy teachers or get a kick out of whacking a mutts behind from far away. We think of the slingshot as the wooden U-shaped item that had a handle underneath and a long rubber band wrapped at each end to provide the throwing power.

One places the ammo in a pouch that holds it secure. We have all tried using different a types of ammo like marbles, small pebbles, grapes, buttons, even coal to some kids. As long as it was small and would fit in the holder, it was a go.

Throughout the years there have been many variations of the slingshot even some made for Olympic or competition use. But at its base core, the slingshot is one of the oldest weapons in man's history. From the tale of David and Goliath, until today's wild forest hunters, one should know how to use the slingshot, how to aim it, and use it effectively.

So, how does one actual aim a slingshot? Some people mimic what they see on TV or how their friends used it ...
... when they were kids. That's close but there are some fine points to it.

Step one: you should hold the slingshot in a way that your wrist and slingshot are approximately at a 90 degree angle. This means that the slingshot is in a good shooting stance. Avoid dropping or slouching of the slingshot else the aim will be off. Some slingshots have a built in brace that lets the user's wrist relax.

Step two: The pouch should be pulled as far back as possible so that the the ammo would hit with strong impact. A good pull should be able to get you 60 feet.

Step three: when releasing the pouch, one should let the whole pouch go at once and avoid letting it slide with one finger at a time. The pouch may be released prematurely and go awry.

Step four: make sure that you practice the pull - draw - release action repetitively so that it becomes second hand.

How to use and aim a slingshot is easy once you get the hang of it. One should never equate how to aim a slingshot with how to harm with a slingshot.
