Hong Kong has gone through many avatars in the last few decades. Yet, the soul of the city remains the same. The timeless and the cultured, which are both aesthetic and alluring, show through in a literal glow that tempts every traveler into a magical web of mystery. You can visit theme parks in any part of the world. You can check out modern architecture at quite a few travel destinations. Yet, a Hong Kong holiday package is your way into the soul of this city. The tale of a small village emerging as an international financial centre still thrives in each and every corner of the city. Don’t try to fit this experience into every travel package, though. A Hong Kong holiday package is very different and brings a different sense of reality to life. So, how do you explore this city – its history, culture and spirituality?

Holy shrines and local festivals

Hong Kong Island has Lo Pan Temple, Man Mo Temple, Tam Kung Temple, Tin Hau Temple and Shing Wong Temple. Yet the diversity of Hong Kong will surprise you as you explore Happy Valley Hindu Temple, Jamia Mosque, Ohel Leah Synagogue, St. John’s Cathedral and ...
... Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple. These temples are all part of the multi-cultural legacy of Hong Kong. Though, it has always been a part of Chinese culture, it has the heart and space to share with people of all cultures!

The mark of History and Aesthetics

Hong Kong saw rulers of China, Japan and Great Britain. In essence, today its history reflects a delightful blend of these dynasties and their influence on the local people. While you may not relate to it, the road carvings and Supreme Court building, for example, are declared as monuments. Kowloon Walled city park, Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail, Tai Fu Tai Mansion and Lai Chi Wo are also must-see Chinese historic sites. If you want to explore more recent history i.e. since 1841, you must visit colonial sites like Clock Tower, Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, Fringe Club, Kamikaze Cave, Murray House and Lui Seng Chun. The beauty and charm of these sites show you more than just architecture and vibrant colours – they share stories of old era.

Today’s Hong Kong

Though, these cultures have witnessed major colonial influences, they retain the core of their historic times. This spells out as an exotic experience for sure! Sip on a Chinese tea, pick up some Feng Shui items for your home and participate in Tai Chi Workshop. Though, most of these things are easily available in several countries across the globe, the local flavor is a unique experience. You may consider watching a horse race or a Chinese opera as well. How many travel packages can offer such surprising versatility?
