Protection Against Car Insurance Fraudsters

Ever since there has been car insurance in existence, there have been opportunists trying their luck at financial gain. There appears to be no end to people trying to trick the system and commit insurance fraud by submitting false claims.
These fraud tricks come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. You may think it is something that will not affect you, but this is not true. There is one kind of car insurance fraud that will not affect you, and that is the organized theft, where the car owner arranges for their vehicle to be stolen so that they can claim back from insurance. Unfortunately, some fraudsters will set up a motor vehicle collision so that they can claim back from insurance. These are the ones that you have to look out for.
In a lot of instances, these tricksters will seem to be friendly and apologetic. What can happen is that they could break suddenly and deliberately in front of you. They will normally try and make out as if their sudden halt prevented a bigger accident from occurring. Some of these fraudsters will be in cahoots with auto repair shops, who will write out invoices for higher repair ...
... costs and then both parties can pocket some of the money from the resulting insurance claim. There are even people who make money off of falsified injury claims.
It is important that you are aware of this kind of fraud, in order to protect yourself and your vehicle. A claim on your insurance could raise your premium, and could cause you a lot of trouble, and even injury! There are ways to protect yourself from these fraudsters. A lot of these people will observe the driving patterns of their victims, in order to figure out a way to cause an accident. If you ever notice that a vehicle has been following you for some time, take down the registration number and report it to a police station.
If you are involved in a fender bender or accident, no matter how harmless, always ensure you take down the correct details. These would be the car registration number, the names, contact details and insurance policy numbers of any people involved. This is the time when keeping a disposable camera in your vehicle could come in very handy. This is so that you can take as many pictures as possible of the accident scene and damages to both vehicles. This can help later on if the fraudsters have tried to inflict more damages on their vehicles after the accident. Another preventative measure you can take on the accident scene is to phone your insurance company immediately. They will usually send an investigator or representative out to take notes of the accident scene.
This can be a very alarming matter to think about, but if you are always alert and aware on the roads, and maintain a safe following distance whilst driving you should be alright. Nowadays most insurance companies are very strict and thorough in their claim processes, but with financial desperation, these people are always trying to find ways to slip under the radar.
