If you hate long lines and expensive visa fees, but need to go on a business trip to Australia, ETA is the answer. The short validity electronic travel authority for business entrants or Subclass 977, allows you to do just this.

There are several types of business short stay visas, but the ETA is the easiest to acquire. It is offered to business people outside Australia who want to visit the country for short-term business purposes. It is for people who need to attend education or business meetings, conferences, conventions, seminars or network. This visitor visa can also be used for informal studies or training. Under some strict, limited circumstances, short-term work may be allowed for this visa type.

ETAs aren't only easily accessible, they are also affordable. It is unique in that there is no associated visa application charge for this Australian travel visa. Only a $20 service charge applies. However, only those holding an ETA eligible passport can apply.

Residents of Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR), Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, USA and South Korea can apply online. Application through a travel agent, ...
... airline, specialist service provider or an Australian visa office outside Australia is available for those in Andorra, Malaysia, Austria, Belgium, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Brunei, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Finland, Republic of San Marino, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Taiwan, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, United Kingdom and Vatican City.

A short-term business ETA visa allows up to three months of stay per visit within 12 months from the date of grant. It may be used for single or multiple entries. Like any ETA visa, this is electronically stored and may be accessed by airlines, travel agents and Australian border agencies. You will not have a stamp or label in your passport, but at the point of entry you must provide the same passport number that you used in your ETA application.
