How A Compact Disc Is Manufactured
Compact discs are the most convenient inventions of technology. A large amount of data can be store in this compact disc and can be carried around. These are small, compact and light in weight. They also have fine high definition clarity or both audio as well as video.
ISO certification for manufacturing CDs-
Data is stored in the CD in a standard format. It can be replicated or duplicated with ease. There are a series of processes that are required for CD manufacturing. The first process is glass mastering, next is electroplating, stamping, molding, metallization, lacquering and finally printing and packaging. ISO standards are used for the CD manufacturing. This ensures and guarantees the quality of the product. A glass master is created which is covered with a photosensitive layer. The customer’s information is then engraved on it with the help of a laser light, and a fine layer of silver coating is applied on the glass master’s surface. The process of applying the silver coating is called vacuum evaporation.
The processes of manufacturing ...
... a CD-
This glass master is turned into a mould which will used to press discs. By means of electrolysis a layer of nickel is added on the glass master. This nickel layer is then separated from the glass to recover the negative of the CD. The result of this is a stamper. With the help of the mold CD’s can be replicated. Liquefied Polycarbonate is injected into the mold and pressed and within a few seconds a CD is created containing all the data. A micro thin layer of aluminum is vacuum laid on the CD. This layer is what makes the CD readable, as it acts as a mirror to reflect the laser light back.
The finish of the CDs-
After the CD manufacturing process is over, a coat of varnish is applied over it to protect the information it in. This varnish coat protects from scratches, bending of the CD or dropping it. The CD is now ready for printing. The process of silk screen printing or offset printing is used to print the labels on the CD. The right label has to be printed on the right CD. The final step is packaging. This is done automatically. The CD’s are then shipped to the various customers. There highly automated plants for CD manufacturing in Canada. The CDs produced in these factories are of excellent quality. There is high definition clarity in the audio and video quality.
Buy CDs which have ISO certification. Only then you have the guarantee of high quality sound and picture clarity. You can then store your valuable information or data in it or use it for movies, or music. Being compact you can carry your own music or movies where ever you go.
