Now, more than ever before, people facing foreclosure need to be able to find legitimate help to fight foreclosure and they need to do it immediately. Many individuals and companies are offering help, but your guess is as good as ours, as to whether it's a scam or not. No one really has a list of good companies and dishonest companies, so how are people facing foreclosure supposed to know who to trust for saving their home?

The government would have them turn to them for assistance, but lets face it, the government is completely sinking with all of their relief plans. No one is getting help and people are still being evicted and left homeless! Banks and lenders tell you they can help, but they are the entire reason person facing foreclosure is in this situation in the first place.

No one seems to understand what to do and there is no established plan to resolve this problem in the future. This leaves people facing foreclosure to fend for themselves, either with a Do-It-Yourself type of plan or by hiring a company to do a loan modification or workout plan. In almost every case, a modification professional can obtain ...
... much better mod plans, saving $10,000's over the life of a mortgage. Most people facing foreclosure are just turned away when they ask for a mortgage modification and they don't know how to negotiate an approval. Trained negotiators are a much needed asset in this industry if we ever want our economy to recover.

This is where homeowners are getting into trouble and where the government is getting involved where they shouldn't. What's happening is that many people facing foreclosure are turning to scammers for assistance. They find someone who promises to help but in the end, they only take the money and run! The government's answer to this issue, rather than prosecuting these criminals, is to discourage people facing foreclosure from seeking any sort of help. This fear of getting ripped off is causing millions of homeowners to lose their home, when saving it with a loan modification could have been an easy answer.

The fear of getting ripped off is not a logical reason for a foreclosure victim to lose their home. This fear is, for the most part, unwarranted. For every person who is taken advantage of, there are 10 or 20 people who save their home using services of a professional company. Those who do their homework and due diligence on the professional they decide to do business with, don't run the risk of getting scammed and greatly increase their chances of keeping their home and getting a much lower payment with a mortgage modification.

The government needs to stop creating this fear for the people facing foreclosure and start being proactive against companies who are scamming homeowners. The idea that a homeowner should lose their home, rather than hiring a negotiator that has saved 100's of homes in the past, is downright crazy. For the most part, it's very easy to spot a legitimate company from a scam and with the right information, victims can eliminate the risk of being scammed, while still saving their home.

The loan modification industry needs to be regulated, rather than eliminated; just like mortgage and real estate brokers need licenses, so should loan modification professionals. If people facing foreclosure are left with the options of trusting their lender or the government to save their home, 90% of them might as well just give up now and save themselves at lot of trouble, pain, and heartache!
