Springs have always been the part of every technology like automobiles, machines, toys, etc. As more and more devices are invented, the use of springs is demanding. Usually springs are elastic devices that store energy and operate as part of mechanical system. When springs are compressed the energy is stored in coils, when the pressure is removed, the energy is released, causing the spring to bounce back. There are various types of springs used for various purposes which are Garter spring, Compression and Extension springs. Springs are often made of coiled, hardened steel, plastic, etc.

Types of Springs:

• Garter springs

Garter Springs are a coiled metal which ends can be fastened together to form a ring. It is used to fortify a rubber seal around pipe joints or a rotating shaft, these are also known as oil springs. It ensures that the seal remains secure if the pipe's size changes slightly due to the pressure and temperature of the liquids being carried through it. It is usually assembled with different ways such as interlocking loops, ...
... staking, screwing one end to another end, etc where this method will help the joint strength strong which would not separate when the spring is extended to its maximum diameter. These are available in carbon steel or stainless steel which is corrosion free, highly durable and flexile that makes it easily available in the market. It is popularly used in automobiles, machines and is demanded in tougher seals which can cope up with higher speeds and temperature. These are easily identified in the market as they it looks like a circle made up of springs. There are many manufacturers in the industry which provide various designs and qualitative springs.

Applications:

• Garter springs are mostly used in oil seals, small motor belts, electric connectors, washing machine seals, air conditioning and diesel engine seals, piston ring expanders, etc.

Compression springs

Compression springs are open coil helical spring that offers resistance to a compressive force applied. It means when you put a load on this spring making it shorter, it pushes back against the load and gets back to its original strength. The spring manufacturers make it different forms such as conical, cylindrical, barrel, hourglass, tapered, concave, convex, etc and are also customized as per their requirements. Compression Springs are found in wide variety of applications like switches, automotive engines, cell phones, electronic and instrumentation devices, medical devices, etc. Before selecting the quality compression spring, look for it features like dimension, free length, height, spring rate, etc. It is considered as one of the most energy storage devices that are made available in market. There are following types for compression springs:

• Conical
• Mini
• Heavy duty
• Extra long
• Rectangular

Extension spring

Extension springs are similar to compression springs but are loaded in tension that is attached to an application on both ends. It absorbs and stores energy while creating a resistance to a pulling force, whereas it is the initial tension that determines the load capacity of the extension spring. These springs are usually made of coiled steel which are usually tapered, straight and conical. These springs are wound to oppose extension and the tension of the wind can be manipulated to achieve the load requirements for an application. It is used for various applications like automotive interiors and exteriors, garage doors, trampolines, washing devices, toys, etc. it is made in different forms like round and square shapes.

Every automotive industry, building project requires lot of machinery and equipment to get the work done. Springs are one of the most tools used for construction, automotive engineers, doors, etc. The above types of springs will help you to use for your all kinds of large mechanical objects and machinery works.
