The Need For Orthodontic Braces

Good dental health includes teeth that are properly aligned. The proper alignment of teeth affects not only the appearance of a smile, but also impacts the way the teeth will function in the most effective manner. Crooked teeth problems make the smile look unhealthy or unattractive; this concern also makes it hard for the affected teeth to be cleaned and brushed properly, and the places where the teeth overlap are more prone to tooth decay and other dental problems since they cannot be cleaned that effectively.
Teeth that are crooked or overlapping can also affect the proper bite function, resulting in malocclusion. The jaw joint can also be affected with improper teeth alignment, as the jaws will be subjected to constant force that comes when crooked teeth grind against one another repeatedly. Jaw joint problems such as TMJ disorder can result from a crooked teeth problem.
Why Have Orthodontic Braces?
Orthodontic braces are used to move the teeth into a straighter, more properly aligned position. The dental braces are used to provide solutions to the following problems:
Crooked teeth
Irregular ...
... or bad bite
Spaced or gapped teeth
Overlapping or overcrowded teeth
Teeth grinding or bruxism
Jaw joint problems or TMJ disorder
The use of orthodontic braces is commonly associated with young individuals, or those in their teenage years. However, more adults are not seeking treatment for their crooked teeth and improper bite problems, for both aesthetic and functional improvements. Adult orthodontic options, such as Invisalign clear braces, Six Month Smiles, and Inman Aligners, offer discreet teeth straightening so the orthodontic treatment can be done without using conspicuous metal parts on the teeth. Teeth straightening using these orthodontic options are also generally quicker compared to the use of traditional dental braces, which may take years before the teeth are moved into a straighter position.
Orthodontic braces improve the aesthetics of the smile by making the teeth straighter and more even-looking. Unattractive spaces and gaps between the teeth are closed, and overlapping or overcrowded teeth are moved into a straighter position. The result is a smile that looks much healthier and more attractive. Bruxism or a teeth grinding problem is also solved with braces – the grinding of teeth against one another is stopped when teeth are moved into better alignment, ending the excessive force that the jaw joint is subjected to when the teeth are constantly ground together.
