Affiliate programs have been around for years and in the early days, only a few people mastered the art of affiliate

marketing to earn themselves huge monthly paycheques. Yes! I said \'mastered the art of affiliate marketing\' because

once you have planned your strategy and fine tuned your marketing technique, it becomes an art. Let me explain....



Planning.



Firstly, you have to have a product and decide how you want to promote it, e.g. you can just promote using the

unique affiliate id (waves) or you can look more professional and use a relative domain name (semi-permanant).

Whichever way you decide to promote your product is entirely up to you, but you must sit down with pen and paper

and weigh up the best way to promote, like email marketing, article marketing, viral marketing and if you have

any spare cash, you can use Google Adwords.



Please don\'t think that \'If you build it, they will come!\', because, trust me, they won\'t! Think of the internet as

a huge market ...
... place - which it is - and your product is a tiny market stall. Is anyone going to see or hear you? No!

Not until you tell people that you are here and open for business. I\'m sure you\'ve been to markets and seen lots of

people (stalls) selling similar products and competing (by shouting) to get customers. The same is for the internet,

there many people (websites) selling similar products and competing (marketing) for customers.



Technique.



Marketing is a technique that you learn. Everyone has a different way to market their product and each has found a

a technique that suits them and they have mastered it. There are many ways to market/advertise your product and there

are a lot of How To ebooks and programs out there and each are as good as each other, but only you will find which one

will suit you. For example:-



Email marketing... is great way to advertise/market your product, but you must have your own list of customers or

subscribers. To get your own list can take a lot of time and planning and paying for an autoresponder service can

be costly. Under no circumstances, must you buy lists. No! Never! They don\'t work, they can be costly and you are more

likely to done for Spamming. Your list must be built on your own efforts.



Article marketing... is another great way to market your product. There more than plenty articles sites out there that

will show your article(s) for free. There are a lot of private label rights (plr) articles on the internet, but these are

owned by millions and have been edited every which way but loose until they cannot be edited any more for unique content.

Your articles Must be unique and Your own.



Viral Marketing... is a great concept which is like \'word of mouth\'. There are different ways to do viral marketing, like

ebooks, videos, social sites are to names but a few. They work in a similar manner, where a product is talked about to one

person who will tell another (or pass on an ebook, a video link etc), who will tell another and so on and so forth thus

creating a domino effect.



Paid Advertising.. Can be done in two ways - online (Adwords) and offline (Leaflets, newspapers, magazines etc). It is very

affective but if not done properly can be very costly. Using Awords on Google, Yahoo etc where you place

an ad containing keywords relative to your product and website, where you only pay each time someone clicks on your ad.

This known as Pay Per Click (PPC)
