Since Google glass was available on a one day sale on the 15th of April, people have become all the more enthusiastic about the development of apps for the Glass. Google Glass applications also known as Google Glassware has quite literally given the Glass all its popularity. After all, any device is only as good as the applications that work on it.
The various kinds of apps that Google Glassware has
Maps
Obviously, a glass with a map right in front of it would be absolutely cool. The Google maps works fantastically on the Glass. It not only shows you the map right ahead of it, you can voice command it directly to bring in front of you all the details regarding the distance and other details.
Social networking
You can also connect to social networking sites directly via your Google Glass with the help of your smart phone especially. You can hold on to your glasses and post status messages, photos and other such details whenever you want to. You can connect with your friends online at any time.
Pictures
Clicking pictures with a head mounted camera is probably the most sought after feature ...
... of the Glass. People love the point of view perspective that the Glass can offer. Actually, it is simple and effective. Yes, a higher quality camera would be really appreciated, but the one right now is just fine.
Google Glass App Design
If you are also in the app business and are wondering if you can design an app for the Glass, the answer is not really. I mean, it’s a free world and you can try your hand at it but if you are moving ahead with the thought that the glass applications or Google Glassware is as simple as development for any other android then you are mistaken.
Actually in spite of the fact that the android platform and the Google Glass is by Google itself, the difference in device makes it extremely difficult to develop for the Glass. The platform has a few things that are different when it comes to the Google glass and so it is far from being same as developing an app for any other mobile.
Since mobile application development has grown in a big way, it is imperative that people have started spending on the means to develop as well. This is why the Glass development kit is being eagerly waited for by half the world and its developers.
Keep in mind
In any case, if you are all set to move forth with having your own app designed for the glass, then make sure that you keep a few things in mind. These things include:
1. Keep the design simple because people still don’t know how to use it. Keeping it simple will encourage more users to participate in using the device and your app.
2. Be innovative and stop creating mere replicas of already existing applications be it on a smart phone version.
3. Keep in mind your viewer will be seeing all the information that you have to offer only on a tiny fraction of the screen, so be wise and display as little as possible.
4. Think about the maximum utility app. While thinking about how the app will be useful to you, you must also focus on what the customer will get by downloading that app.
