I have seen some pretty cool sports and activities in my life. Personally, I always wanted to go parasailing, bungee jumping and windsurfing. But A few weeks ago my cousin was telling me about another water sport that just may interest me, and after looking into it, it sounds pretty awesome. So what is this sport activity? Kitesufing! Doesn't sound familiar? Well I'll bet anything if you look online for photos, the second you see what it is you will probably say "hey I've seen that before!"

If you live near an ocean, beach or other land or body of water you probably have seen this, but just didn't know what the heck it was called! A power kite or traction kite is a large kite designed to provide significant pull to the user. They come in three main forms: foils, leading edge inflatables and Supporting Leading Edge. There are also rigid-framed kites and soft single skin kites. There are several different control systems used with these kites which have two to five lines and a bar or handles.

Power kiting can be done on various vehicles or objects such as a kiteboard, 3 wheeled cart, all Terrain Board/Mountainboard/Landboard, ...
... and even all-terrain roller skates! I know, amazing right?!? It looks like a lot of fun! So, what kind of equipment are you going to need for this? Well the first thing you want to look at for kitesurfing aka kiteboarding is a kite which looks a lot like the sail on a boat. You will also need the rigging system and any extras such as a kiteboard.

The "sails" themselves are pretty inexpensive depending on the brand, size and site you go to. The ones I found were under $400 for the kite itself. It's not super expensive, but if you don't have a lot of money you can also look into the various "levels" of these products. For example, one site I found online had a product JUST for people that were on a budget. This was the 2 Line Trainer Rush 3 (III) which was less than $160. Now if you can afford something a little more expensive you could look at the HQ Hydra H2O Relaunch which is $265 or the 2009 Griffin Kites LEI which is $500.

Again, it depends on you and what you want! If you really can't figure out what item is the best one for your level of expertise; I would suggest emailing or calling the owner of the site. After all it is their product, they can surely direct you to the right one! You can also take a look at the product description as well, this might help you out if you are trying to find a kite that would be good for budgets, beginners, etc. Over all, I would definitely suggest looking online rather than offline. It's going to be a better deal, better options, and a lot more help when it comes time for help and or reviews on the product!
