An abortion can leave a woman devastated and she may undergo extreme physical and mental stress. Abortion can be a major decision to take in a woman's life.

The effects of abortion

Undergoing an abortion changes a woman's life in more ways than one. This is a time when the woman needs her family and her husband the most. A woman, during her pregnancy, should be supported in all ways possible to help her recover from such a phase and lead a normal and healthy life once again.
Given below are some physical and emotional effects on a woman who has just undergone abortion.
. Physical effects - An abortion can have many negative physical effects on the woman who has just experienced it. Some of the common effects and complications include perforation in the uterine area, heavy and constant bleeding, infection in the uterus, convulsions, vomiting, injury to the cervix and even embolism. These are short-term effects. The long-term effects include the danger of getting cancer, inability to conceive, complications in the upcoming pregnancies and constant weakness. Such physical effects need to be treated at ...
... the earliest so as to help the woman recover and be prepared for a normal life in the future.
· Emotional effects - Another important aspect is the emotional effects on the woman such as regret of losing the child, anger with oneself, feeling of guilt and shame, feeling lonely or isolated, losing confidence in oneself, depression, inability to sleep, relationship problems with spouse, suicidal tendency and even eating disorders. If this be the case, a woman should be made to meet a therapist or psychologist and treated effectively so that she can do away with such negative thoughts and become emotionally stable once again.
Other reasons
The society plays a very vital role after a woman undergoes abortion and loses her child, no matter what the reason had been. While some societies blame the woman herself and shun her or avoid her, some prove to be very supportive and help the woman recover from the trauma so that she can be back to her normal lifestyle at the earliest.
It is very important, that all the people who come into the contact of the woman after her abortion support her in all ways possible without talking about anything negative concerned with her abortion. Studies reveal that more than 70 percent of women, who were given a supportive and happy environment post-abortion, were able to come out of the abortion trauma, conceive and lead a normal life once again.
