As your car grows older there will be many instances for individual components in your mind for which the performance isn't as good as it once used to be. And this happens with the best of cars and it is not happening with your car because you did not buy a car that lasts. The good thing is if you have a good garage then with prudent component replacement you will be able to get great performance from the car over the long term.

However the performance of all the components of your car is not very noticeable nor is it easy to evaluate it objectively. Take for example the tail lights. When you are driving your car you cannot see the tail lights of your own car. Therefore even if they have lost their brightness and they look a faded shade of red you may not be aware of it. It is true you do look at you tail lights when you are out of the car. And if the color of the tail lights is faded very badly you will be able to make out they are in a poor shape but this is only when their condition is really bad.

What you can do is once or twice a year you can start your car in the night switch on the lights and then get out ...
... and inspect the quality of lighting that your tail lights are delivering. You will have watched a lot of tail lights while driving your car so you should have some idea how well good tail lights perform and how poor performing tail lights look. Based on the outcome of the inspection you can decide if they need to be replaced.

Even if the condition of the tail lights isn't too bad but they fail to excite you, you can consider getting replacement tail lights. The latest tail lights look stunning and do not cost a lot of money. Tail lights are important for the safety of your drive and having bright ones is very useful when the visibility is not very good.
