Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala believes that summer is the time of pitta aggravation. The heat outside heats up the inside of our bodies as well. Hence, there are a number of dermatological ailments that appear during the summer months, and continue till the monsoons. However, with the knowledge of basic Ayurveda, such ailments can be tackled without much ado.

Ayurveda believes that our skin has six layers. They are not just there at the superficial level but in the deeper levels of the body as well. Skin diseases are mostly rooted in the tissues or 'dhatus' like blood, muscle, fat, etc. Skin treatments recommended by modern medicine generally involve oils and creams, which never really reach the skin's deeper layers. This results in the disappearance of only the symptoms, that too only for a while, only to show up later. Ayurveda, does not believe in treating symptoms but uprooting the ailment altogether, so that it leaves a human body for good. Ayurveda, thus, hits directly at the very root of a disease. As dermatological diseases are deep-seated, they do take some time to get erased from body; hence, if you are opting for Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala ...
... you should be ready to wait a bit before the skin troubles disappear from your bodies.

What are the causes of skin diseases?

Ayurveda believes that not just the root of skin ailments, but that of other diseases too lies in the poor diet and lifestyle that people follow these days. Following a lifestyle or diet that is against one's nature or 'prakriti' leads to an imbalance within human body, thus, harming the tissues, ultimately producing dermatological ailments. Although diseases are caused by an imbalance in all the three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha; it is primarily pitta that triggers dermatological problems.

Pitta symbolizes fire or heat. Hence, foods that aggravate the heat in body needs to be eliminated from diet. Pitta-aggravating foods include hot and spicy foods; tea and coffee; acidic foods like citrus fruits, tomatoes, vinegar, yogurt, etc. Besides, smoking and drinking too trigger pitta.

How to get rid of skin troubles?

As Ayurveda believes in treating an ailment right at its root, it prescribes the elimination of pitta-aggravating foods and activities, to begin with.

Here are a few remedies that are potent at treating all kinds of skin diseases:

Neem is a boon of nature as far as antiseptic is concerned. Instead of using soaps and shampoos, boil neem leaves in water and use it to wash the affected areas.

Mix tumeric, neem and amla powder together. Take one teaspoon of the mixture with a glass of water twice a day. In case, neem and amla are unavailable, use only turmeric powder. In case of the latter, half a teaspoon with water, twice a day is fine.

Aloe vera, being the well-known blood purifier that it is, is great for healing dermatological problems. Take 2 or 3 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel on an empty stomach daily.

These are only a few tips, Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala offers you much more. Visit Kerala and get yourself treated, and return home with a new you, sans all the ugly skin ailments.
