Invisible Braces Procedure, Benefits, And Drawbacks
Invisalign and their clear braces are now on top of teeth straightening procedures. It used to be just the good old metal braces, where most teenagers spend most of their teenage lives wearing. Some consider these braces ugly, and those who wore them had this "ugly duckling effect" where upon completion of the treatment and removal of the braces made them more attractive than most of their peers have imagined.
The development of clear braces has allowed teenagers to not live out their high school and/or college lives as ugly ducklings. Moreover, adults who were not able to afford braces when they were young and couldn't bear the shame of wearing oral wires in the office flocked to invisible brace treatments. While it has not put the metal braces into obsolescence, more and more people are favouring it over the old ways.
The invisible brace is popular due to its pain-free and less uncomfortable procedure. There are no needles or anesthesia required, only pictures and x-rays of your teeth. A mold of your teeth will be taken, and this will be the basis of the invisible braces that you will get. Along the way, your ...
... dentist will be able to show you what your teeth will look like upon completion of the treatment.
The benefits of clear braces besides not looking like you ate a glitter cake includes being able to take them off during meals. This is because the clear braces are not made for biting or chewing food, and may actually get damaged should you use them for such. Another benefit is the fact that it is less uncomfortable than metal braces. With metal braces, they are as tight as possible, and a few adjustments along the way are made. With clear aligners, your teeth are straightened in a more modular fashion. You will be wearing a different aligner every few weeks depending on the position of your teeth by then.
As far as the drawbacks, there are a few. Most of them depend entirely on the patient. If you have a habit of taking out your aligners too often, it may affect treatment time. So if you take out your aligners for eating but keep forgetting to put them back on afterwards, your teeth may not reach the desired position for your new aligner when the time comes to have it changed. Another drawback is that clear aligners tend to be worn longer than metal braces, although most users do not mind as it doesn't affect their looks as much as the latter.
As invisible braces are practically dental gloves, you may find your breath stinking a little too much too often. This is normal, as saliva get trapped in the braces and giving you morning breath all day. Finally, clear aligners are not for everyone. It is for those who have healthy teeth and gums that only need straightening. If your teeth are chipped, you'll need veneers, for instance. Should invisible braces be not for you, your dentist will tell you at your first consultation. If you need a cheap dentist Melbourne that offers Invisalign treatments, check out Freedomdental here.
