Causes For Eyelash Loss
Eyelashes provide proper frame to a face. Unfortunately when a woman has thin eyelashes or in some case no eyelashes, this dramatically makes her conscious about her look even leading to loss of self esteem.
There are many factors behind the loss of eyelashes such as using cosmetics and make up removers for a very long time, going through trauma, or side effects of drugs or aging or simply due to thyroid conditions. Lets discuss each one in detail.
Eye lash loss due to Cosmetics and Makeup Removers
A very common factor that leads to loss of eyelashes is allergic reaction that occurs on the lashes due to make up ingredients. The most dangerous cosmetic is mascara; it can shed your lashes very easily. In such a case use a hypoallergenic eye makeup product to solve the problem.
Waterproof mascaras are very popular but they also lead to loss of eye lashes because they are difficult to take off, due to which we rub and clean our lashes to clean it off. As an alternative you can switch to lighter mascara which is not waterproof and can be cleaned gently.
Heavy coats of mascara do look beautiful but ...
... when it is left on the lashes, it becomes heavy on the delicate lashes and as a result they fall out. You can get rid of this problem by avoiding putting heavy coats and run them gently while taking them off.
Thyroid Conditions
Thyroid disorder leads to hair fall even eyelash hair fall. People who have the illness of hypothyroidism experience lumps of eye lashes falling. But once the disease is treated the eyelash loss reduces.
Mites can cause Eyelash Loss
Mites are tiny bugs living in human pores and hair follicles. If too many mites dwell in the root of eyelashes then it causes the eyelash to fall. This condition however is treatable by a physician.
Eyelids and Eyelashes also go through Trauma
If eyelashes are rubbed and plucked excessively it will result in falling of eye lashes, moreover new eye lashes will also not grow. Often some individuals face a disorder
Trichotillomania (TTM); it makes hair from body, eyelash, scalp and eyebrow hair fall out. However a remedy through eyelash products is now available for this disease as well.
Side Effects of the drugs:
There are many prescribed drugs that help in solving one ailment but they have an adverse effect on hair loss, almost stopping eyelash growth. Some medicines like Acitretin, Soriatane and Neotigason are well quoted examples of such medicines.
Aging caused eye lash loss:
As a woman ages she goes through hormonal changes. Especially after menopause reduction in hair growth especially eye lash growth is normally witnessed. HRT therapy can increase the growth of eye lashes.
