More and more people now are turning to the World Wide Web for various reasons. Some get online to find answers to questions, while others want to enjoy the convenience of shopping without leaving their house. Of course, that’s only two of the myriad of reasons why people browse the web.

If you have a website for your business, you have to make sure that your visitors have a good experience when visiting it. The minute any page from your site loads, it has to hold their attention and get them immediately engaged so they don’t navigate elsewhere.

Here are a few helpful tips on how to make them stay longer on your site:

Create a professional-looking logo – Whether your site targets young or adult users, the logo has to look polished and professional. Many people have discriminating taste when it comes to business logos, and when they see a logo that lacks creativity and professionalism, they usually don’t treat the business with all seriousness the same they would a business with a logo that looks sharp and catchy. Also, wherever your logo appears on your site, be sure to link ...

Make use of intuitive navigation – For your users to easily browse your site, provide a horizontal menu bar at the top of your site, right below your brand logo. This would be your primary navigation bar. You can also provide a vertical menu bar either on the left or right side of your page. Of course, to make sure they also see navigation options wherever they are on the page, you can also include another horizontal bar at the bottom of each page.

Provide a call-to-action for each page – Your ultimate goal is for the visitors to eventually make a purchase via your site. This is why you need to have something on each page that calls for the users to act on something, whether it’s filling out a form, availing themselves of a free trial, providing their contact info, or making a transaction.

Keep it clutter-free – When designing an e-commerce site, some of us can get into an image-uploading frenzy and try to put up as many images as we can. This does not only make it longer for a page to load but also makes for visual clutter. Even when including call-to-action images, keep it sparse and not too loud. Users can easily be turned off by that.

Provide engaging content – Before parting ways with their money, people want to know more about the product they’re going to buy. Every time they click on a product name or image, be sure that excellent content goes with it, whether it’s a write-up, a doodle animation, or a video. The information has to be relevant and current.

Interact with the users – You can also have a real-time interaction with your customers by providing, say, a built-in chat within the site where your potential and existing customers can ask questions about your products or services and get instant answers.

If you do all these as far as your business site is concerned, getting users to stay longer on your site and acting on something can be achieved. (If you want to install a call tracking service for your site to improve your marketing ROI, try analytic call tracking now.)
