Studying in Jaipur

Jaipur houses more than 22 universities, wherein 17 are private varsities and five are state-owned. Big cities like New York, London and Adelaide can’t match up to these numbers, which is one of the reasons why students will get a fair chance to learn and grow here. Till the advent of last decade, Jaipur was like any other north Indian city with only three universities and some degree colleges. But over the last few years, the city has undergone major development and nearly 35 engineering colleges have come up. Also, there are now about 40 management colleges in Jaipur.

With the increasing number of technical institutes for management and engineering, the state of Rajasthan is going to significantly contribute towards the achievement of the national target of 20 per cent gross enrolment ratio (GER) by the closing of the current five-year plan (2012-2017) against the previous GER of about 12 per cent in higher education.

The Current Scenario of MBA Colleges

The rising prominence of MBA has caught the attention of many aspiring students and young professionals who wish to climb the ladder of professional success. The city of Jaipur has been doing its best to provide such aspirants all the necessary resources. There are several distinguished MBA colleges in Jaipur, including Tapmi School of Business (TSB,) Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) and Birla Institute of Technology. These institutes have been recently in news for their MBA courses and admissions.

All the three colleges have invited applications for their MBA programs. TSB has started its MBA admissions for both Indian and international students. The selection will be based on the students’ CMAT / XAT/ GMAT/ CAT/ MAT results, group discussion and personal interview. This business school comes under Manipal University and students require a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least 50 per cent aggregate. Most business schools in Jaipur, including this one, give more preference to candidates with work experience. Interested candidates can download the application from the official website (www.jaipur.manipal.edu), fill it up and submit it with a demand draft of Rs.600. The application also demands more documents, like character certificate, management score card, four recent passport size photos, a stamp size photograph, degree or provisional certificate and marks sheets.

As per India Today, MNIT Jaipur is also inviting candidatures for its MBA program for the academic session beginning 2014. Interested students can apply by 17th March. However, applicants must possess at least 60 per cent aggregate or 6.5 CGPA. Similarly, interested students can also apply by 7th April to Birla Institute of Technology Jaipur where they can pursue the two-year MBA program starting in 2014. Students can opt from any of the following specializations –

5 Insurance and Bank Management
6 Operations and Manufacturing Management

9 Agro Business Management

In a separate press release, Jaipur National University announced its plans to empower students with an online education program for all levels – graduation, post-graduation, dual certified courses, executive MBA and online MBA.
