Child Health Insurance - A Major Concern For Families?

Child health insurance is a major concern for families and the government because there is not a full health coverage for the entire population. Most children benefit from health coverage through their parents insurance or through family plans, but there are families that do not qualify for the public insurance system. The private sector could also provide viable child health insurance too. Employer-sponsored coverage is the popular and average type of insurance used in the United States. Medicaid Services and Medicare have also come up with plans for low income families that do not qualify for the majority of health plans.
60% of child health insurance is provided through the parents employers. The private market provides insurance for some 5% of the total number of American children, while almost 30% have access to the public sector through Medicaid and other national programs. Concern is very high in relation to the high number of children that are uninsured either permanently or temporarily. Fortunately this percentage will get lower, but in the context of the financial crisis, fewer and fewer families can afford ...
... to pay for insurance premiums.
In the US, child health insurance is also available through the State Children's Insurance Program sponsored from allocated public funds. If a certain number of criteria are met, any child would qualify for government-sponsored child health insurance. Unemployed or low income families are the first eligible for the program. Within this kind of insurance system, the child immunizations, the doctor visits, the hospitalization and the emergency services are either free or very cheap.
There are huge risks in not having child health insurance available. Many parents try home treatments in the attempt to save money but they only manage to worse the health condition. However, when such problems aggravate and they become a lot more difficult to treat. An uninsured child that needs emergency care will cost his/her parents a huge amount of money, that would be otherwise saved through a minimal family insurance plan. Awareness and information are therefore two of the most significant elements that may reduce the number of problems caused by lack of heath insurance.
