How To Setup Vsat Systems

A Vsat is a ground station two-satellite with a dish antennae that is smaller than 3 meters. Vsats generally access satellites to transmit data from small remote earth stations to other terminals or what can be termed as master earth stations. Vsat are commonly used to transmit what is known as narrowband data. A general explanation of a narrowband data is point of sale transactions such as credit cards, or broadband data for the prerequisite of satellite internet access to remote locations. Vsat is also used for mobile maritime communications.
The initial commercial VSAT were C band receive-only systems that were using spread spectrum technology. These antennas were successfully sold in early 1980s. Later, they were updated to a 2 way system between 1984 and 1985; approximately 10,000 units were sold.
The Vsat Antenna needs to be in a risen position where it is able to spot the satellite and is safe from unauthorized access. The outdoor unit consists of two radio modules: a low noise blow down converter and a transmit block up converter. A band pass and band stop microwave filter shields the tool from any unnecessary ...
... transmitter signals. Most VSAT systems are put together in one of these topologies: A star topology, which consists of a central uplink site that transports data back and forth to each Vsat terminal via satellite. The next topology is known as a mesh topology which acts as a hub when conveying data via satellite to another terminal. This minimizes the need for a centralized uplink site and cost of the network. Applications affected among many others include the following: fax, television, internet access, satellite news gathering, and digital audio broadcasting.
All the outdoor parts on the dish are known as the Outdoor Unit or ODU. The essential parts of a VSAT configuration consist of the following: The Antenna, Block-up converter, Low- noise block-down converter, Orthomode transducer, Interfacility link cable, and indoor unit. Satellite communication through a VSAT terminal on a ship at sea is known as Maritime VSAT. Since the ship moves with water, the antenna needs to be stabilized within position of the horizon and True North.
Advances in technology have improved performance and price over the past couple of years. The new Vsat are promising higher data for low costs. The improvements are applicable for providing high-quality services dealing with communication systems for residential and business users.
