Winters come and they cause havoc in some places. It has become very tough during winters and the temperatures just start to dip and dip. It is a great time to get comfortable and snuggle up under your blankets with a hot cup of cappuccino, but don’t forget to take care of your pipes during winters.

The frozen or the burst pipes can cause really some huge problems during winters and surely you would not want that to happen. You must keep these plumber approved things in mind, so as to avoid your pipes to freeze-

Raise the thermostat

Start your new year by saving off some cash and certainly this does not have to be done at the precious cost of your hot tapping pipelines. Particularly in old houses where insulation becomes the last thing to happen. You need to keep your home moderately temperate and this will ensure that the pipes remain healthy too.

When you are away turn off the main water valve

If you are heading off to a climate that has a warmer weather, then you need to keep the water ...
... valve totally switched off. This will also ensure that you save some extra amount of cash for the rainy days, or for those days when your pipes gets stuck and you don’t have enough money to cash in on.

Leave back a drip

This is something of an old advice for you guys but it really works wonders. Even if you leave a small drip on all the faucets and then allow the water to keep moving, then that would have enough amount of water to freeze. If you are planning to apply this tactic then don’t forget to remember about the faucets that are present in your home.

There is logic behind the tip working for years and years and you have to understand the basics to know what it really means. You must catch the dripping water and not waste it, so as to use it for recycling the plants.

Keep the cabinets open

If you allow your home to heat the pipes, then it won’t put much of a dent on your energy bills and will not cause much of harm too. During the warmer temperatures, the pipes will have a better view and they will get heated which is also necessary. This small thing will make a huge difference and will not let the freezing pipe to burst out in winters.
