Total amount of grease and oil that goes out of the kitchen sinks is quite huge. Day after day, the sinks are used to wash hands, dishes and other fatty oils, so that they go through the drain to end up in the waste water tanks or other places, where the water is discharged. Grease problems might not be evident in the short term. But, those commercial establishments, which have been running since many years, do face the problems of clogged drains or foul odour. As these drains go into the outside roads and backyards, there is spilling of the drain contents to the outside, leading to germs and foul smell. Furthermore, overflowing of the sink water into the rooms or kitchens can be another problem, after a period of time. In such cases, people need to take precautions by installing good quality grease traps to prevent the passage of oily waste into the same drains as the waste water.
• New methods for trapping fat being designed and also being implemented
Concept of using fat traps has been present in the society since a long time. Many establishments have been using these traps to remove the fatty waste products ...
... from the water which goes down the drain. But, nowadays, sophisticated machines have emerged in the market, which provide far better methods of removal of the fat. Not only are these separated with grease separators, but they are possible to be timed in such a way that they are treated chemically. Chemical substances are filled inside these traps, so that they are released at regular intervals or when the fat deposits increase inside the machines.
• Equipments for fat trapping and removal becoming common with stricter regulations
Even with so much of advancements in these techniques, it is better to have the simple grease traps fitted in the kitchen sinks. There are underground and over ground versions, which can be perfectly utilised to keep off the fatty components from the waste water. With strict regulations regarding the waste water management, it is becoming necessary for most of the commercial establishments to have the traps installed. Some of these newer equipments can cost the establishments quite a large sum of money, but their effects more than offset these expenses. There are advantages of using the fat traps, but only if these are being procured properly and used in the right way.
• Advanced systems of grease separators and traps have become automatic
Automated systems of traps and grease treatment can be highly effective in controlling the flow of FOG into the sinks and the drains. Many companies are coming out with such automated systems. They can be fitted in the drains, from where the grease is removed and then treated with chemicals for effective removal. Manual separation is also possible, after the tanks are filled up, but automated systems are good enough for hassle free maintenance of these equipments. Over a long period of time, these equipments or fat traps provide sufficient benefits to the commercial establishments as well as the homes, making traps quite necessary.
