Camphor Ointment Gives Back Pain Relief
Aching muscles seem to have become increasingly common. Back pain is now one of the leading causes of missed days from work and is a common complaint, for example. And many people use over the counter and prescription medications daily to combat the problem. However, a topical treatment like a camphor ointment might be a better choice for some pain sufferers. Rawleigh offers one such product with potential.
Most muscle pain, whether from an injury or a strain, occurs because of several factors. Our immune system is at work helping our muscles heal. However, the chemicals they release irritate the muscle and cause the inflammation. A consequence of the inflammation is the swelling which causes the muscle to press against our bones and other nearby parts of our body. All of these effects combine to cause the pain, tenderness, and achiness.
Camphor ointment has been used for over 100 years to provide relief from these problems. Camphor itself has been shown to improve circulation and circulation is important for healing. It can also help the muscles relax. Sometimes even without inflammation, the muscles ...
... can become very tight and stiff which also causes pain.
While camphor ointment alone can provide pain relief benefits, some products add additional natural ingredients which can provide complementary relief. This is the case with the ointment available from Rawleigh.
Their camphor ointment also contains oil of wintergreen (Methyl Salicylate) which can fight inflammation. If the inflammation of the muscle is treated, the pain and swelling will go down providing further relief. Oil of wintergreen, which is found in the Rawleigh product, is sometimes used to help people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, a condition in which the immune system attacks the body's joints and causes chronic bouts of severe inflammation.
Besides these two ingredients, the Rawleigh product also contains oil of cedar and oil of thyme. The former contains antiseptic qualities while the latter contains antibacterial and antifungal properties. Both can help with the healing process by preventing complications, such as infection.
Unlike most oral pain medications, this type of topical ointment tends to work faster and longer because it does not have to be processed by the body before it can begin working. Plus, you can apply it directly to the area where you are experiencing the pain. For example, if you have tight back muscles, a massage using camphor oil could help both your muscles and you whole body relax.
W.T. Rawleigh founded Rawleigh Products in the late 1800s to create a line of "Good Health Products" that possessed both strength and quality.
