Healthcare is one of the most basic rights for every citizen in the country. The sad truth is most of the citizens of India don’t have access to the basic medical facilities. Things are worse in the rural areas where most people don’t pay enough attention to healthcare. The picture is much different in the urban areas due to world class medical facilities and rising income levels in the cities. But there is not much development in the medical conditions in the rural areas.

Issues Related to Healthcare

Thankfully there are a lot of healthcare projects undertaken by the government and the public sector that focus on providing healthcare facilities to areas that are considered remote. The irony is India is one of the few nations that have access to world class medical facilities but it is not necessarily accessible to everyone. Another major drawback for the rural healthcare system is the poor state of infrastructure. Though there are ample healthcare projects in the rural area, connectivity to the healthcare centers is a major problem.
These are a few reasons why the state of healthcare in rural India is poor. Thankfully along with healthcare initiatives by the government, there are several efforts from the NGO’s, nonprofit organizations and corporate philanthropy initiatives to provide decent healthcare facilities throughout the country.

Role of Sustainable Healthcare

The best way to address this problem is by adapting a sustainable healthcare system. Several such projects are launched through the corporate philanthropy initiatives and the main concern of these initiatives is to provide primary healthcare facilities. The focus is to provide holistic healthcare and along with that explain the importance of nutritional guidance, community hygiene, sanitation, personal hygiene and counseling.

The important aspect of sustainable healthcare is to establish the relationship between environment and healthcare facilities. The changes in the environmental conditions can be linked to a lot of serious ailments. Pollution in the air, water and other natural resources has a direct effect on the health of the consumers. In simple terms, there is a strong correlation between the health of humans and that of Nature. Therefore, if we preserve nature, it will help in maintaining our own good health.
