For many travel destinations in India, the best season for travel is the easiest question to get answered. Some are season specific, while others are year-round travel destinations such as Shimla, Goa, Ooty, Munnar, Amritsar, Gangtok, Mount Abu, Darjeeling, etc. Mostly, these stations have great and consistent weather due to their geographical location.

But, a travel destination like Leh- Ladakh can be very tricky. At a high altitude of 11,450 feet, summer in Ladakh is breathtakingly gorgeous and serene. But winter can be extremely challenging. In fact, most road transportation to Ladakh in winter stays shut down. Trekkers and adventurers instead have to fly to Ladakh. But the snowy challenge of these Himalayan summits is easily overcome by the keen interest shown by winter sports players. No wonder this destination is considered well worth the travel.

If the weather permits, every tourist to Ladakh should also check out the Drang-Drung Glacier of Zanskar. But the true pinnacle of Ladakh’s beauty is Pangong Lake. This lake is famous for two things. Firstly, it is a popular location for some very popular Bollywood movies. Secondly, this saline water lake lies on the border between India and Tibet. When you add all this together, it is obvious that very few travel packages in India can boast such diversity and brilliance.

This hill station is ideally ready for tourists throughout the year with unique cuisine, warm people and breathtaking Himalayan glory. But you shouldn’t come to Ladakh during November to February for sightseeing. That time is best for winter sports festivals and activities. Most tourists should enjoy the beauty of this rough terrain from March to October. So pick the right season for the right activities while making your travel plans.
