When you're new to the notion of a user friendly website it is vital that you understand just how many different things there are to think about. If you want to try complicated or fancy methods, like Taguchi Multivariate testing, etc you can do that. The better method is to start with something small and simple and then work up to those things. This is the method that teaches you what you need to know so that you can go learn it. Once you do that, then you start at the beginning with making the easiest changes.

Fonts that are hard to read generally don't get read for very long, so this means you have some control over this. Just take a look at the major news sites and you'll see the fonts are easy to read and smooth looking. There are also considerations for the number of different fonts on your site. Major sites with millions of visitors a month are professionally designed and they can get away with it more than you can. So just stick to one type for the content and then maybe a few others for specific areas such as headlines and maybe the sidebars.

Placing a link to your contact page is essential and it's not ...
... just for your readers. Anytime you are doing backlinking, reputable sites will want to see your contact page. This is also about having credibility, and even if you're not you'll at least look the part. If you have nothing to hide, then you should not have an issue with getting an 800 number of something - no one will call, anyway.

An official privacy policy is something that people come to expect to see, and it's good to have them from a legal standpoint. Other information will be what is done with it and what the visitor can expect, and it's fine to edit that out or change it so it's more accurate, but the important point here is to have this policy on its own page. It really does not matter where you put them, more or less, so this is your decision. If you want, you can make the links a lighter shade so they don't stand out so much and distract people. Even if your site is just getting killed and needs brain surgery, you can turn things around pretty fast with the right knowledge. But then you are going to need to figure out how to both put it to work and to put it to work with some confidence. In the end, though, it is absolutely up to you and how badly you want to build a successful business online.keep reading
