What is Zyban?

Zyban (bupropion) is an antidepressant medicine that has been found to aid in the stopping of smoking. It is used to help people stop smoking by reducing cravings and other withdrawal effects.

Important information about Zyban

Do not use this drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
You should not take it if you have seizures, an eating disorder, or if you have suddenly stopped using alcohol, seizure medication, or sedatives. If you take bupropion for depression, do not also take Zyban to quit smoking.

This medicine may cause seizures, especially in people with certain medical conditions or when using certain drugs. Tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions and the drugs you use.

This product may cause seizures, especially in people with certain medical conditions. Tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions.

Do not take it to treat more than one condition at a time. If you take bupropion for depression, do not also take Zeeman to quit smoking.

To make sure this tablet is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
•a history of head injury, seizures, or brain or spinal cord tumor;
•heart disease, high blood pressure, history of heart attack;
•kidney or liver disease (especially cirrhosis); or
•Bipolar disorder (manic depression).

What happens if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

What should I avoid while taking Zyban?

Drinking alcohol may increase your risk of seizures. If you drink alcohol regularly, talk with your doctor before changing the amount you drink. This drug can cause seizures in people who drink a lot of alcohol and then suddenly quit drinking when they start using the medication.
It may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

Storage:

Store at room temperature. Protect from heat, light and moisture. Keep away from reach of children.
