Computers run on a network, behind this network an application serves as a server. It performs the function of linking all the computers in the manner that information can be exchanged between them and used by the user of any other server as well. The client network is connected to the proxy server, if he wants access to any webpage or file obtainable from another server. The appeal of the client is assessed by the proxy server supported on the policies of filtering.

For example, the proxy server may sort out the traffic found on the protocol or the IP address. If the proxy server authorizes the appeal according to the filter, then it recommends the source by linking it to the concerned server and forwards the application for the service on behalf of the client. The proxy server has also got the choice to modify the appeal of the client or the reaction of the server and often the appeal is supplied without any contact to the particular server. Instead, in this situation, it caches the respond from the remote server and passes the requests straight regarding similar issues.

Mainly there are two functions of a proxy ...
... server. The first one is to remain behind all the computers unidentified, to maintain the security. The second purpose is to speed up the resource access through caching. It is most commonly used for web page caching from the web server.

The proxy server also forwards the responses and the demands without any amendment and is normally known as the gate way. It is also known as the tunneling proxy.

Usually the local computer holds the proxy sever, sometimes it can be even found at several point connecting the main servers and the internet user. Reverse proxy is used as a gateway to quicken the licking of resources through caching.
There are numerous functions of proxy servers, the best one is that it cuts down the expenses on the hardware. Often companies due to work load have many computers running on one network or under one server, this does not give permission to use the internet facility directly. In such a condition, each computer needs to be on a single network and also on the one network linked to the same proxy sever. This proxy sever will link all the computers directly to the main server for easy access to the internet.
