Where Do Lottery Jackpots Hide?

In some of my more recent articles, I've discussed lottery strategies that make use of the bell shaped curve distribution of some lottery characteristics. Many such curves are used by lottery players to increase their odds of winning the lottery. My intention was to stimulate some response. Well, I got that. However, to my surprise, it appears that I have caused a uproar about lottery jackpots.

It makes my day when I see other lottery players get excited about my favorite topic. Their passion for the lottery gets my juices flowing. I don't mind controversy, in fact, I thrive on it. It gives me more material for future articles. But, in this particular case, it seems that opened a can of worms. So, for the sake of civility, a sanitized version of their complaints looks something like this:

Bell shaped curves are nice but lottery jackpots don't act like that!

There is no way to put this nicely. It is actually impossible for my lottery critics to be more wrong. They are absolutely wrong! All lotteries follow these bell shaped curves, both in theory and, I state ...
... most emphatically, in practice! And, a lottery number analysis on any lottery would show this. I hope that makes my position on the subject clear enough for everyone.

Now, you want me to back up what I have said. No problem. If you were here with me at my computer, I would play one of my favorite games to make my case. I would say to you something like this: "I'm so confident in my position that I will let you pick any lottery at random." Then, I would proceed to use my lottery software to prove, that when it comes to lottery jackpots, I am right on the money.

This is how I would do it. You would pick any lottery you choose. Second, you would pick a performance characteristic that interests you. Next I would display the theoretical bell shaped curve of that performance characteristic. This would be an example of one of the curves that some of you are objecting to. Finally, I would show you the same graph depicting what actually happened using the actual winning lottery jackpot numbers.

For example, you might select the Florida Lotto. Shortly, you would be looking at the theoretical curve covering the last 372 drawings (over 3 1/2 years). Then, you would be looking at the same curve of the winning lottery jackpot numbers. What a surprise; a bell shaped curve. Theory predicted what would happen and it did. In this case, both graphs fit like a hand and glove.

Shocked? Don't believe me? Do you think this is some sort of parlor game? Or are you simply not impressed and have decided to dig in your heals and stick to your guns. After all, I could have gotten lucky. Fine. We'll do it again. OK, you choose.

So, you choose the Mega Millions lottery. Again, I show you the theoretical and the actual graphs for the last 372 drawings. Surprise! Again, the graphs match each other.

Still can't believe what you're seeing? No? Alright, pick another lottery. New York Lotto here we come. Well, what do you know. The curves are like identical twins. The lottery jackpot results will always match the predictions of the theoretical graphs. In fact, I openly challenge anyone to show me an example of a lottery, where the winning lottery jackpot and the theoretical graphs don't match.

So, where do all lottery jackpots hide? They're all inside that bell shaped curve.
