It is a day celebrated globally to acknowledge the achievements of women in different fields in past, future and present. Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China (for women only), Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar (for women only), Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal (for women only), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia national holiday as a mark of respect. Though the event have been celebrated since early movement in the early 1900's, the first international women's day was celebrated in the year 1911. International Women's Day was first observed as a popular event after 1977 when the United Nations General Assembly invited member nations to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women's rights and world peace. The UN theme for International Women's Day 2014 is "Equality for Women is Progress for All".

We have seen significant changes in thoughts related to emancipation of women. Things might seems to be good with more women in boardrooms, equality in legislative rights, and increase in number of women role models in every aspects of life. All these might show that we have achieved equality. However, the unfortunate fact is that women still don't not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women's health, education and the violence against them is worse than that of men.

The good news is that now we are doing good in terms of empowering women and we can now often see women astronauts, Presidents, entrepreneurs etc. Innovative Financial Advisors Pvt. Ltd. understands we still need to a lot of work for truly empowering the women. Innovative Financial Advisors Pvt. Ltd. celebrated the day by wishing all its women employees with flowers and had a cake cutting ceremony. There were social media campaigns run to celebrate the day and make everyone aware about rights of women in the country.
