Global Monopoly Of Indian Stainless Steel Stockpots-00-3239

With the passage of time, civilization has been advancing, like change and improvement in taste of raw flesh to roast to cooked one, ultimately cooking procedure began with mud pots and utensils and continued for centuries till the metal was invented. Metals like copper, brass, iron and aluminum cookware, kitchenware and tableware came in to being. During the First World War, rusting of iron arsenal became a hindrance in their use and maintenance. There was a need of such a metal which should be tough, rust proof, non malleable and long lasting. Mr. Harry Brairly of Britain confirmed the dictum Necessity is the mother of all inventions by making rust proof shinning metal (stainless steel) by adding copper and chromium to iron. Initially this metal was used for manufacturing weapons and other important military equipment. Addition of nickel made this metal (stainless steel) more attractive and strong but it was beyond reach of common man as it was expensive. Permutations and combinations, variations and advanced technology has brought its cost down to earth, within the reach of every person from morning cup of tea to night rest ...

Applications of stainless steel have become wide and varied and ever increasing. In 1981, stainless steel production in India was 66000 tonnes per annum and now it has crossed 12,00,000 tonnes per annum benchmark, an indicator of its popularity, utility and satisfaction in every field, particularly the kitchen has become the show room of stainless steel with more than a 1000 stainless steel items ranging from cooking, serving, sewing, house keeping to tableware and spares. For storing cooked food, for serving, we have a box, store box etc. with lid and side handles for easy carriage which is now in vogue in western and other countries also where they call it The Stockpot. It is used for keeping soup, vegetables, rice, dry fruits and other edibles. Its size, shape and design vary according to the consumer requirements and likings. It is light and easy to carry with side handles.
One lac ton of stainless steel stockpots were exported in year 2003-04 specially made in Mumbai where 28-30 units are busy manufacturing this item, although Chennai, Ahmedabad and Baroda also manufacture and export it. J200 series stainless steel patta is used in India usually but grade 304 is used on demand of developed countries. International market looks at India for stainless steel utensils, kitchenware, cookware, cutlery, pet ware and stockpots due to competitive costs, superior quality and attractive designs. Every city of all countries has Indian stainless steel items and stockpots. 2000-2500 importers round the globe import stainless steel utensils, kitchenware, cookware, cutlery, pet ware and stockpots from 294 Indian manufacturers and exporters. Almost 100 percent of Indian stainless steel stockpots are exported to meet consumer demand at competitive price and quality and hence they are successful exporters.
Mumbai is the centre of stockpot manufacturers and exporters. Raw material is also available in Mumbai in the form of patta and patti, with export facility through ports. India will continue to lead global stainless steel market particularly in stock pots.
