Uv Water Purifier Verses Ro Water Purifier
UV and RO are the most popular terms in water purification industry. People prefer to discuss them as one better than the other. Fierce online discussions reveal that it is pointless as they both have different limitations and benefits.
Ultraviolet technology heats up the water and rends the bacteria and viruses in the water ineffective. Thus, you are protected against the water borne diseases. However, Reverse Osmosis technology uses a partially penetrable membrane, which filters water to remove inorganic solids like ions, chemicals, dust, sand and minerals, organic particles like bacteria and viruses.
UV water purifiers are necessary in a household with constant complaint of water borne diseases. However, it should be considered necessary for family with kids and old people as their immune systems are weaker. RO water purifiers are equally suitable for kids and old people but they are much needed in cities and towns where they have hard water. These types of home water purifiers are very effective against the salts present in the water.
The disadvantage of UV water purifiers is that it does not affect ...
... inorganic minerals and chemicals in water. So, if there are any dissolved chemicals that get transferred in water due to bad maintenance work or water pollution, then, these filters cannot protect you against the long term damages. On the other hand, RO water purifiers remove all the minerals from water. That’s a problem as the science shows that some of these minerals from water are important to our health.
Though, such is the case with most of water filtering and purification technologies available in the market today. Many manufacturers prefer to create a water filter that can collectively take care of the major contaminants in the water. So, though, UV and RO as technologies may not be sufficient, there are several UV+RO water purifiers in market today. No wonder, they are considered far more reliable and equipped to protect you and your family.
However, if there has to be a clear-cut winner among the two, then it would be RO system. RO is considered superior water purification technology because it can independently handle all known contaminants where as UV cannot. However, if you do not have hard water in your locality, you might be giving up the healthy minerals in the water by usage or RO water purifiers. So, the smart choice is the one that suits you well.
